Westport Family Resource Centre

Westport Family Resources Centre was established in 2004 in response to the needs of the local community. The management committee of Westport Family Resource Centre are members of the local community, who worked for years to establish a community and family project for Westport.

Westport Family Resource Centre is part of the Family and Community Services Resource Centre Program, funded by their Family Support Agency.

Utilising the principles of community development, the centre will involve the local community in targeting issues that are important to them with the support of the centre.

Aims of Westport Family Resource Centre

• Support individuals and families by

-      Provision of information and support

-      Personal development courses

-      Counselling.

• Provide support to existing projects

• Continue and expand the ‘Cara’ visitation service to Older People living in isolation.

• Work with People with Disabilities to increase their participation in community life.

• To work with statutory organisations to promote decision-making that improves the quality of life of all people and involves local people in this decision-making process.
