Westport Youth Rugby

Westport R.F.C. was founded in 1925 by a local business man Joe Gill. In 1951 the Club moved to its first pitch at the "Bog Gate Field", which was located at the Demesne Westport, on the Carrowholly Road. There were no changing facilities located at this location and teams had to use the changing facilities of two local hotels.

In 1984 the club purchased land in Carrowholly, three miles from its original pitch on the same Carrowholly Road, Westport and developed two new pitches and a training area. A purpose built clubhouse was completed and opened in 1986.

In 2003 the club carried out a major pitch improvement, which allows the teams to play and train whatever the weather. During the same year Westport revamped and refreshed its playing kit and reaffirmed its nickname “, The Bulls.

Rugby training is at 7-30 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the season
