Speech and Drama Classes
There are Speech and Drama classes provided weekly during the school term, outside of school hours mainly for the children attending Primary and Secondary schools in Westport and the surrounding area. Speech and Drama involves:
Some of the actors drawn from one of the groups performing in Captain Blackboot's Island during the annual feis. The first term will be busy preparing for our annual feis. This is a great occasion for all to perform on stage for parents and friends. There is a drama section and a poetry section. The speech and drama exams will be held during the second term .the Examining Board is the Royal Irish Academy of Music. We use their syllabus and they send an examiner usually in March each year. As each student is examined individually, this is of great benefit in preparation for interviews in the future.
Two members of the group acting out their poem's in the poetry section, during the annual feis. Classes begin September each year:
There will be two terms, September/Christmas and Christmas/Easter. There will be a midterm break at Halloween.
