WESTPORT ECO CONGREGATION:

Encourages us to consider food waste at this time.

On a weekly basis, we waste approximately one third of the food that comes into our homes. At Christmas, food waste can be as high as 50% of the foods we purchase. Not only does this have a financial cost but also a significant environmental cost too. The resources used to produce our food cannot be recouped if it goes to waste and this food waste also contributes to greenhouse gas emissions.  Consider planning portions and remember the shops will be open again!!

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS:

Dear Parishioners, as we celebrate the birth of Christ, may His presence fill our hearts and homes with hope, peace, joy and love. I am deeply grateful for your presence in our parish family and I pray that this Holy Season brings us every blessing. I especially pray for all those who are ill, worried, anxious, lonely or bereaved. We remember our family relations and friends who are in different parts of the world. And we pray for the safety and wellbeing of all who are traveling. Nollaig Shona agus Athbliain faoi mhaise daoibh go léir.

PRAYER OF BLESSING FOR THE CRIB:

Loving God, bless this crib and all who look upon it May it remind us that Jesus was born into a family who didn't have very much to share except their love for one another May it help us to keep you at the centre of our Christmas celebrations. And may the joy and peace brought to the world by Jesus be in our home at this time and always. Amen.
