I have never done anything like this before and Had no intention to climb croagh patrick but felt compelled to the more i looked at it. The feeling of achievement when i seen the church was like nothing else. I prayed to st patrick and said hail mary and our fathers. I would reccomend anyone to do it. Read More Paul & Tara Amarante 17 May 2026 8:08 pm The pilgrimage to the top is a literal and figurative representation of life. At times the views are breathtaking and the walk is easy. Other moments are less than pleasant, with changing difficulty and sudden storms, mirroring our fragile existence and troubles. We can only truly prepare ourselves for all the possible hazards and hardships of the journey through trust in God. All other precautions avail us nothing in comparison. Must have been a powerful, prayerful experience. Definitely felt like a Holy experience connecting to God, St. Patrick, and all the pilgrims who went before us. I'm still unsure of exactly what I believe, but experiencing Croagh Patrick inspired me and filled me with peace. I can feel the spirit of everyone who's made the climb before me, as if we're all here at once, and all connected. I came to Ireland in hopes of finding true solitude and quiet, and Croagh Patrick has more than filled that need. I feel a sense of rest here, as if something outside of me, bigger than me, is keeping me safe. I'm filled with gratitude for the people who fought to preserve this mountain, and that I was able to see this beautiful view. The views from the peak are a reminder of life’s vastness and the opportunities that lie beyond the horizon, waiting for us to take that leap of chance. Good health became more than a wish; it felt like a responsibility—to care for ourselves, for one another, and for the Earth that holds us all. And as the wind carried prayers whispered by generations before, it felt like a collective yearning for peace on Earth, a dream we still hold dear, no matter how distant it may sometimes seem. It is said to be the mountain which St. Patrick himself climbed up, and pilgrims have been hiking up its hillside ever since. Those who are feeling especially penitential will climb the mountain barefoot, and apparently we had a contrite batch of students, as at least a third of the group climbed up the hill sans footwear. In all seriousness, it was beautiful to watch them experience the physical and spiritual journey of the mountain. We made frequent stops for short reflections and prayers, and each time we paused, we were reminded of how blessed we are to live on this beautiful Earth.
