HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE FUTURE OF CATHOLIC EDUCATION IN YOUR SCHOOL:

The current Department of Education survey on the future of patronage in the primary schools will determine what schools will divest.  It is important that those who wish for a change in patronage would have their voices heard.  It is equally important that those who are already satisfied with the current patronage model and who wish for a Catholic Education for their children, including sacramental preparation within school, would have their voices heard also.  For these reasons, and to ensure that an accurate picture emerges, you are invited to participate in this survey if you are a parent, guardian or a prospective parent of a primary school student.  Decisions on what schools will retain or lose their Catholic patronage will be influenced by the expressed opinions of those who participate in this survey.  Therefore, your opinion and the values you hold dear are important, and your voice needs to be heard about your local school.  Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. The closing date is 16th December 2025.The survey may be accessed at www.gov.ie/primaryschoolsurvey

ECO CONGREGATION:

As Advent and Christmas approaches, we are invited to consider our Planet Earth and help reduce the environmental impact of the purchasing choices we will make during these weeks.  According to a report by MyWaste.ie the annual Christmas splurge sees us produce 25% - 30% more waste than we normally do, which in turn costs all financially, and harms the environment Eco Congregation Westport, invites us to pause and consider our purchasing choices – be conscious of the planet in our Christmas preparation. With just a little effort and imagination we can save financially, and reduce our impact on our precious earth – for example, choosing to buy goods that are manufactured from recycled sources; buying locally produced products wherever possible.  Such choices support small businesses and reduce transportation costs – all having a positive environmental .

Focus on buying less and buying better. Together can make a difference!

PRAYER FOR THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING:

O Christ the King, you reign above all things with mercy and truth.Rule our hearts with your love, guide our thoughts with your wisdom and lead us to live as citizens of your eternal kingdom.Grant us courage to witness your Gospel in word and deed, humility to serve others as you served us and joy in the hope of your merciful judgment.May your gentle reign bring peace to our world, justice to the oppressed and freedom to the captives.Stay with us, now and always. Jesus Christ our King. Amen.
