I wanted to share an important cause that has been close to my heart. The Westport-Aror Partnership has been making a real difference in the lives of people in rural Aror, Kenya, since 1982. This collaboration with the Irish Medical Missionaries of Mary has
supported many essential projects that have improved the community's well-being.
Now, they are seeking additional support to continue their vital work. Every contribution, no matter the size, can help provide much-needed resources to this community. Your generosity can make a tangible impact on the lives of those who rely on this partnership for healthcare and other essential services.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to help.

Westport Aror (Kenya) Partnership
The Westport Aror (Kenya) Partnership was founded in 1982 (43 years ago). The Partnership supports the local community in Aror which is located in the north west of Kenya. The goal is to provide vital health services to the people of Aror which save lives and prevent diseases.
Healthcare is the top priority of the Partnership and their focus is on helping to develop and support the Health Centre in Aror. Thousands of lives have been saved in Aror over the years through the support of the Partnership.
The Partnership supports the employment of qualified staff and the purchase of medical equipment and medication. In addition, the Partnership encourages the involvement of local people and staff in the management of the Health Centre. The Health Centre is an important resource for the whole community.
Improvements include the provision of solar panels for the labour ward. This project was funded by students from the Sacred Heart School, Westport.
Projects funded by the Partnership in recent years include:
· The provision of a new jeep/ambulance
The building of a new fully equipped kitchen, enabling the safe preparation, cooking and storage of food for both patients and staff
The construction of a new septic tank system
The drilling of a borehole to provide a source of clean drinking water for the Health Centre with an outside tap so that locals can also access this clean, uncontaminated water.
The most recent project paid for by the Partnership was the provision of solar panels for the Health Centre in October 2025, thus providing hot water and electricity in an area where the electricity supply is not reliable.
On 26 October 2025, members of the Partnership were delighted to welcome Sr Angela Lyappa from Kenya. She brought greetings from Aror and Mukuru (a vast slum Nairobi run by the Medical Missionaries of Mary and also supported by the Partnership). On a recent visit to Aror, Sr Angela saw that the 24-bed Health Centre provides extensive facilities and a wide variety of services including Antenatal and Postnatal care, Paediatric care with vaccination programme, Out-patient clinics, In-patient facilities, Laboratory services. They recently purchased a Mammogram machine which is proving very beneficial for the local community.
Currently, children and adults share the same ward, leading to cross infection. On their wish list is a paediatric ward and the updating of their laboratory. The Partnership hopes to help out with these projects when funds allow.
