FIRST FRIDAY MASS JUNE 6TH 10.00A.M

Will include special prayer intentions in memory of children who have died before birth or shortly after. Followed by a visit to Our Lady’s Grotto at the Quay, Westport. (More details in next week’s newsletter)

EXAM MASS AT KNOCK SHRINE (JUNE 2ND 7.30P.M.

Knock Basilica) - All students preparing for exams—and their families—are warmly invited to attend a special Exam Mass at Knock Shrine. Take a quiet moment out from your studies to ask for God's strength and guidance during this important time. Bring your pencil case to have it blessed.

 

FIRST COMMUNION MASS AT KNOCK SHRINE:

All first communion children and their families are invited to a special Mass of celebration on Sunday June 1st at 12 noon in the Basilica, Knock. The children are welcome to wear their communion clothes and will actively participate in the Mass, making it a happy and memorable family occasion.

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE TRANSITION YEAR AND LEAVING CERTIFICATE CLASS STUDENTS:

Who have recently celebrated their Graduation. We continue to keep you all in our special prayer intentions, especially those doing exams.

 

“FAILTE CUPPA” – You are all invited to join us for refreshments in Carrowbeg House after the 11am Mass in St Mary’s this Sunday May 25th

 

MAYO CANCER SUPPORT-THANK YOU:  Mayo Cancer Support, at Rock Rose House, wishes to thank all those who supported and facilitated its recent Church Gate Collection in Drummin on the weekend of May 10th & 11th last. Special thanks to the volunteer collectors.  A total of €188.70 was raised. These funds will support the ongoing provision of emotional support to local people affected by cancer.

 

ANAM CARA:  

Supporting parents after bereavement, are hosting an Online Bereavement Information Evening on Thursday 22nd May 2025 at 7pm

 

WESTPORT LIBRARY CELEBRATES 50 YEARS: With a brand-new library building in the works, and as the existing branch marks a special anniversary, Westport Library staff are compiling a social history of the library service in Westport as part the celebrations.  Everyone is invited to submit stories, memories and photos for the compilation of an exhibition which will be unveiled later in year as part of the events to mark the branch's birthday. Original photos will be scanned and returned, and anyone with any information, stories or craic about the branch, or the library service in Westport, in general, is invited to submit them to the branch or to email to [email protected]

NEW BOXES OF ENVELOPES: Will be available for collection this weekend. You can call in after Mass or at the Parish Office during the week. We would appreciate the help of our usual volunteers to distribute them, and the help of any new volunteers would be a great help too.

LAUDATE SI WEEK-24TH 31ST MAY:

Eco Congregation reminds us that this week Laudate Si week – a week where we mark the anniversary of Pope Francis’s landmark encyclical on caring for creation.  This year we celebrate 10 years of faith action, and care for our Common Home.  As we reflect on this journey, let us come together in prayer and action to renew our commitment to creation and the most vulnerable. PRAY, ACT and CELEBRATE.  Let us make the 10th anniversary of Laudato Si a movement of home and transformational.

 

TUAM ARCHDIOCESE 33HR of ADORATION:

Knock Shrine (Blessed Sacrament Chapel) commencing with Mass at 9.00am Friday 6th June (Parish Church) closing with Benediction. Westport, Lecanvey & Drummin hour of adoration 4.00p.m. Saturday 7th June. Mass at 5.15pm Sat. 7th June.

 

JUBILEE YEAR PILGRIMS OF HOPE 2025:

Please visit the Display at the back of the Church in St. Mary’s to see details of this Year’s Pilgrim Passport collaboration between Croagh Patrick, Lough Derg & Knock Shrine. You can also see details of the work done on the path on the Reek as well as other information about the Croagh Patrick Pilgrimage.

 

ILLUMINATION A SACRED OPUS:

Performed by Vocalessence Ladies Choir and Mayo Concert Orchestra. Friday 30th May at St. Mary’s Church Westport at 8.00p.m. All proceeds in aid of Holy Trinity Church Westport Restoration. Tickets available at the Presbytery €20 or on line on eventbrite.

 

CHARITABLE TAX EXEMPTION:

Sincere thanks to everyone who have returned the CHY form, a gentle reminder to anyone that has not returned the form you might please consider helping us avail of a tax reclaim by returning the signed form.

 

BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE:

In the Castlecourt Hotel, Westport on 3rd, 4th & 5th June. Blood needed urgently. Please support.

 

ROSARY:

Continues at the Quay every evening for the month of May, at 8.00p.m.also in Drummin at the Grotto at 6.00pm every Sunday.

 

WETPORT SOCIAL SERVICES: AGM Wed. 25th June at 7.00p.m. Quay Community Centre.

 

WESTPORT GAA: Annual Mass in the clubhouse on Wednesday, 28th May at 9.00p.m. Musicians and singers are welcome to join. We encourage everyone to attend to be part of this special evening.
